#TIGERSWIN | SB | ETBU Sweeps DePauw Staying Perfect at Home

MARSHALL, Texas – Sweeping DePauw University in two great games, #7 East Texas Baptist University stayed undefeated at home with 8-2 and 6-5 victories. ETBU is now 18-4 overall and 15-0 in Bell Park at Taylor Field.
 
Delanie Loya was 4-of-7 on the night with a double and four RBI as Tristen Maddox added three hits. Tauryn Cummings recorded a home run and two RBI. Hannah Kelley and Ashley Croft both earned wins improving their records.
 
Game 1
ETBU 8, DePauw 2

A six-run fifth inning broke open the game as ETBU won, 8-2. They finished with nine hits with one home run from Cummings. Maddox, Loya, and Perez all had two hits. Loya led with two RBI as Maddox, Cummings, Corley Carpenter, and Perez had one RBI. Hannah Kelley earned the win moving to 7-2 on the year with four strikeouts. Toni Tamborello pitched in the seventh as the inning went 1-2-3.
 
DePauw took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning but Cummings tied it up at one in the bottom of the inning. It was then a six-run fifth inning that propelled ETBU to the win. Mary Frances Ellis stole home to go ahead, 2-1. Loya then singled in two runs for a three-run lead, 4-1. Carpenter earned a RBI when she was hit with the bases loaded and then Mallory Pyle stole home making it 6-1. Maddox finished out the scoring with a single down the left field line bringing in Perez for the six-run lead, 7-1.
 
A run came in for DePauw in the sixth inning to cut the lead to five runs, 7-2. Perez, though, had a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning for the 8-2 win.
 
Game 2
ETBU 6, DePauw 5

ETBU held off DePauw in game two to take the sweep on the night, 6-5. They posted two doubles, one by Maddox and one by Loya as Courtney White lead the team with three runs scored, followed by Maddox, Damiani, and Buchanan with one each. Loya had two RBI, while White, Croft, and Cummings all had one. Croft went on to earn her ninth win of the season with five strikeouts and giving up just one earned run.
 
Maddox scored first in the first off a triple by White, 1-0, in the first inning. White then came in on a Loya single to make it 2-0. DePauw rallied for four runs in the top of the third inning but ETBU cut the lead to one in the bottom of the inning. Croft singled down the left field line as White came int. ETBU was able to tie the game at four in the fourth when Braelyn Buchanan beat the throw home. In the fifth inning, ETBU added two more runs as Loya and Cummings each recorded a RBI for the 6-4 lead breaking the tie. DePauw scored one in the top of the sixth to pull within one, 6-5, They threatened in the top of the seventh with a runner on and no outs but a strike out and caught stealing on the same play ended the threat. Croft ended the game with a ground out as ETBU earned the second win.  
 
ETBU will play again at home this Friday, March 31st at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm against McMurry University and on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in an ASC series.
