#TIGERSWIN | SB | Croft, Kelley Shut Out McM in DH Sweep

MARSHALL, Texas – Behind two strong pitching performances from Hannah Kelley and Ashley Croft, #12 East Texas Baptist University shut out McMurry University in a double header sweep. ETBU won, 3-0, in a weather delayed game one and then had a run-ruled game two victory, 8-0, in five innings. ETBU is now 20-4 on the year and 7-4 in the American Southwest Conference.
 
Tauryn Cummings led the team going 4-of-6 at the plate with a double and two RBI. Courtney White recorded three RBI, a home run, and two hits in game two. Delanie Loya and Tristen Maddox also had two hits. Corley Carpenter and Jalen Perez both added two RBI while Maddox and Loya each had one.
 
Kelley earned the win in game one going seven innings with four strikeouts and five innings without allowing a hit. Croft improved to 10-1 on the year recording two strikeouts in the win.
 
Game 1
ETBU 3, McMurry 0

Playing just over five innings, a weather delay of almost 45 minutes took place but that didn't stop ETBU from taking game one, 3-0. Kelley held McMurry to no hits through five innings before the Warhawks received their first hit in the sixth inning just before the weather delay. She retired the side in the second, fourth and fifth innings and had four strikeouts in the game to move to 8-2 on the year.
 
ETBU had just four hits in the game as two were for extra base hits in a home run by Maddox and a double from Loya. Cummings also produced two of the four hits to lead the team.
 
Maddox started the game off in the bottom of the first inning on a second-pitch swing for a home run to centerfield. After a ground out, Croft walked and then Loya doubled to left center field to make it 2-0. In the fourth inning, Perez grounded out as Cummings came in for a 3-0 lead.
 
Kelley pitched out of a jam in the top the seventh inning after the weather delay. With two runners on the corners and two outs, McM had a batter walked to load the bases. The game ended when Mary Frances Ellis caught a foul ball in left field to end the game.
 
Game 2
ETBU 8, McMurry 0

A six-run third inning propelled ETBU to the run-ruled game as they swept the double header, 8-0. They then scored two more in the fourth inning and held on for the win in the fifth, 8-0. Croft went five innings two strikeouts allowing just two hits.
 
ETBU posted 10 hits in this game with four extra base hits in three doubles and a home run by White. Cummings and White led the team with two hits each. White added three RBI while Cummings and Carpenter had two RBI. Perez then added one RBI on a ground out.
 
After two scoreless innings, ETBU erupted for six runs in the third inning. White brought in the first run of the game on a single to left field as Ellis came in. Three batters later, with the bases loaded and one out, Cummings doubled to right center field as both Croft and White came in for the 3-0 lead. After a strikeout, Carpenter doubled down the right field line for two RBI to go up, 5-0. Perez finished off the scoring with a single to left field as Allison Damiani came in.
 
In the fourth inning, Maddox doubled to start the inning and then White slammed her first home run of the year to left field making it 6-0. Croft then retired the side in the top of the fifth inning to end the game.
 
ETBU will play McMurry one more time on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. The dedication of Bell Park at Taylor Field will begin at 11:40 a.m.
