AUSTIN, Texas – A late rally by Concordia University Texas ended #13 East Texas Baptist University's bid to sweep the entire American Southwest Conference series, 3-1, on the road. ETBU is now 4-1 and 2-1 in the ASC.
Mary Frances Ellis led the team with two hits in three at-bats as ETBU had six hits.
Tristen Maddox,
Courtney White,
Evan Garcia, and
Delanie Loya all had one hit. Loya recorded the lone RBI.
Hannah Kelley started the game going 4.2 innings receiving the loss with one strikeout giving up three earned runs on five hits.
Marin Musicant finished the final 1.1 innings not allowing any hits or runs.
There were four scoreless innings for both teams before ETBU crossed the plate in the top of the fifth inning. Loya doubled in White for the 1-0 score with two outs. ETBU had threatened in the third inning with the bases loaded and but a fly out ended the inning.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, CTX had two outs had three consecutive hits that brought in three runs for a two-run lead, 3-1. ETBU had a runner on third in the sixth with two outs but a ground out stopped a run from coming in. ETBU then went 1-2-3 in the top of the seventh to end the game falling, 3-1.
ETBU will play one game on Tuesday in Longview, Texas, against Southwestern University at 6:00 p.m.
