MARSHALL, Texas – Finishing out their home slate staying undefeated in the American Southwest Conference East Division, East Texas Baptist University handled LeTourneau University, 8-1. ETBU is now 11-5 on the year and 3-0 in the ASC East. They finish off their home schedule at 6-1 on senior day at Veterans Memorial Tennis Complex.
The doubles started off with just a 2-1 lead for ETBU.
Addy Seward and
Fernanda Ruiz Burkart won the number one match, 8-4, over Brandy Weems and Clara Brisman.
Isabelle Duarte and Shyann Darr also won, 8-4, at number three doubles for the 2-1 lead.
Jayde Childress and
Grayce Malone fell at the number two match, 8-7.
ETBU then took all six singles matches for the 8-1 win. Seward started off with the number one match, 6-3, 6-0 over Weems followed by a 6-4, 6-3, win by Childress at number two past Elizabeth Moreau.
Andrea Alvarez took a 6-2, 6-1 win at number three over Emma Boulanger and
Maryam Sharafeldin won at number four, 6-2, 6-1, defeating Kylie Weeks. Ruiz Burkart then shutout Brisman, 6-0, 6-0, at number five match and Duarte finished off the sweep, 6-2, 6-2, at number six.
ETBU will play for first place against Texas Dallas on Friday, April 14, in Richardson, Texas, at 3:00 p.m.
