IRVING, Texas – Moving their unbeaten streak to five matches, East Texas Baptist University earned their first shutout of the 2023 season in women's soccer with a 2-0 victory over the University of Dallas. ETBU is now 3-0-2 on the year.
ETBU took 11 shots in the game with six on goal while holding Dallas to just seven shots and one on goal. Caroline Wileman
Alexus Wright, and
Isabella Kingsakongthong all had two shots as six different players had one shot on goal.
Ashlyn Wynne and
Carly Wyatt both recorded goals.
Addison Funk and
Cadence Tischler shared the shutout each playing 45 mintues. Funk had the lone save for ETBU.
ETBU came out firing with two shots on goal in the fifth and eighth minutes. Funk stopped Dallas' only shot on goal in the 11
th minute. After a quiet 24 minutes, ETBU netted the first goal of the game in the 36
th minute when Wynne found the net on an assist from Lilana Garcia.
Just three minutes into the second half, Wyatt collected her third goal of the year to make it 2-0. ETBU pressured the rest of the half but only had one more shot on goal as they held onto the win. The defense only allowed two shots for Dallas in the 52
nd and 53
rd minutes with nothing on goal.
ETBU will next host Texas Dallas on Friday, September 22, in non-conference play at 7:00 p.m. at Cornish Field.
