GEORGETOWN, Texas – Facing off against one of the best in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), East Texas Baptist University couldn't get their offense going in a 5-0 loss to Southwestern University. ETBU is now 0-2-3 on the year.
ETBU had just seven shots in this game with three on goal. The Tigers had seven saves from Tristian Whelchel.
Matthew Dieb led the team with shots on goal.
Georgetown's play in the first half was great ball control not letting ETBU have possession. Whelchel had four saves in the first half with the first one at 1:43. At 6:38 Georgetown scored the first goal of the half. Whelchel's second and third saves of the game came at 20:15 & 21:10. SU then scored at 21:52 for a 2-0 lead.
In the second half, Georgetown didn't let ETBU do anything offensively.
Brenden Gajewski did get ETBU first shot off at 45:46. Whelchel also had three saves in this half. Gajewski' s second shot of the night occurred at 63:13 and
Garrett Garvin had a shot at 69:10.
The Pirates scored three goals in this half. Dieb had two shots in the second half at 81:43 and 84:05.
Luke Hansen had his first shot at 82:23.
Cole Falco put two shots on target at with his first at 84:28.
ETBU will travel to Kerrville, Texas, to face Schreiner University September 17, at 2:00 P.M.
