MARSHALL, Texas – Sweeping their first home match of the year in the American Southwest Conference, East Texas Baptist University shut out Concordia University Texas, 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-17). ETBU is now 8-2 on the year and 2-0 in the ASC.
ETBU hit .250 overall with 34 kills, seven serving aces, nine blocks, and 53 digs.
Graycee Mosley led the team with 11 kills and 12 digs while
Avery Reid had eight kills.
Lillie Hill posted 15 digs and
Anita Hancock had four total blocks.
Sydney Temple added 16 assists. ETBU held CTX to a .000 hitting percentage and only 21 kills.
Jumping out to an 8-1 lead, ETBU didn't look back in set one with a 25-14 lead. Mosley made it a 10-point lead, 18-8, on a kill and then a Hancock service ace made it 23-10. Reid finished the set with a kill for the 25-14 win. CTX hit -0.031 in the set.
It was a mirror of set one as ETBU went up 5-1 in set two on a Temple kill. ETBU kept their distance in the set and took a 10-point lead, 20-10, on a Mosley service ace. A Reid service ace ended the set, 25-13, as ETBU went up, 2-0.
CTX stayed with ETBU in set three as they were within one, 8-7, before ETBU scored the next two points with a kill by Lexie Moody. ETBU went on an 11-5 run for a 19-12 lead as CTX cut it to six twice. A CTX attack error ended the game as ETBU won the match, 25-17.
ETBU will host Mary Hardin-Baylor at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in ASC play in Ornelas Gym.
