SEGUIN, Texas – In a well-balanced match, East Texas Baptist University recorded their second straight tie of the season in women's soccer action against Texas Lutheran University, 1-1. ETBU is now 0-0-2 on the year.
In a defensive battle, there were only a combined 14 shots in the game and only four on goal. ETBU posted six shot with two on goal while TLU had eight shots and two on goal.
Carly Wyatt netted ETBU's lone goal as
Giselle Laredo recorded the other shot on goal.
Addison Funk had one save and one goal against in the match.
It didn't take ETBU long to score as Wyatt flicked the ball in off a free kick from
Makayla Baxter in the ninth minute.
Sarah Ramos had a look at the net in the 11
th minute for the second shot of the half but was wide. TLU then took five straight shots from the 12
th minute until the 17
th minute as Funk saved one in the 15
th. ETBU took one more shot by Ramos in the 20
th minute as they took a 1-0 tie at the half.
Just three minutes into the second half, TLU tied the match at one on the first shot of the half. TLU followed with a second shot in the 63
rd minute as it was high. ETBU had two looks in the 63
rd and 67
th minutes but both were wide left. One last push by ETBU came in the 88
th minute when Laredo's shot was saved as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
ETBU will host Millsaps College on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. at Cornish Field.
