#TIGERSWIN | VB | ETBU Clinches a Share of ASC Regular Season Championship Sweeping UMHB

BELTON, Texas – Clinching at least a share of the American Southwest Conference regular season championship, no. 10 East Texas Baptist University swept the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 3-0, 25-21, 25-17, 25-18. ETBU is now 18-1 and 6-0 in the ASC with a 17-match winning streak. ETBU has three sweeps in a row and 11 on the year.
 
ETBU hit .305 with 47 kills, holding UMHB to a .129 hitting percentage. The third set was the strongest for ETBU, with a .429 hitting percentage and 19 kills. They also boasted 16 total kills in the match with 44 digs.
 
Avery Reid and Graycee Mosley collected 14 kills and hit over .300. Mosley gained another double-double on the year with 12 digs to lead the team. McKenzie Mansell had a double-double with 17 assists and 10 digs. Lexi Moody added 19 assists. Grace Williamson posted five block assists and five kills.
 
The first set was the most competitive as ETBU hit .382, and UMHB had 14 kills and a .273 hitting percentage. ETBU took a 5-2 lead to open the set as Mosley and Williamson had back-to-back kills for the three-point lead. UMHB was within two, 7-5, but ETBU scored five of the following eight points, making it 12-8. Reid had two kills in that time. UMHB had a kill and service ace coming within two, 12-10, only to see ETBU reel off four straight points on two UMHB attack errors with a kill by Hannah Perry and a Mosley for a 16-10 lead. UMHB battled back, cutting the lead to one, 19-18, but two Reid kills put ETBU back up by three, 21-18. UMHB came within two, twice, 21-20, and 22-21, only to see three straight kills from ETBU to end the set, 25-21, as Mosley had two and Williamson one.
 
UMHB's worst hitting set came in set two as they hit negative .103 with only seven kills. The Cru was within two, early, on three separate occasions. A UMHB attack error put ETBU's lead at four, 10-6, but an ETBU service error returned a point to the Cru. ETBU scored five points in a row, making it 15-7 as UMHB took a time-out. UMHB had three errors then, as Mosley and Perry each posted a kill. A UMHB service error and Mosley kill put the score at 19-10. A Williamson kill and another UMHB error gave ETBU a nine-point lead, 22-13. UMHB came within seven, but Mosley ended the set with a kill for the 25-17 win.
 
ETBU only became hotter in set three, hitting .429 with 19 kills. UMHB started with a one-point lead, 3-2, and 4-3, but ETBU scored six of the following seven points, taking a four-point lead, 9-5. ETBU had five kills in the run, with two from Raylynn Pitts and one from Mosley, Reid, and Emily Millikan. UMBH fought back to tie the set at 12, and yet again, ETBU followed with five straight points to extend the lead to five, 17-12. Mosley had two kills as UMHB added three attack errors. UMHB came within three, 19-16, only to see ETBU score four more points, 23-16. Moody had two straight kills followed by two from Reid for the seven-point lead. Reid scored two of the final three points as the match closed on a kill by Reid, 25-18.
 
ETBU travels to Richardson, Texas, on Saturday to face Texas Dallas in a regional match at 1:00 p.m.
