BROWNWOOD, Texas – Two second half goals from Howard Payne University handed East Texas Baptist University a 2-1 loss on the road. ETBU is now 4-8-1 and 2-4-0 in the ASC.
 
ETBU took 14 shots but had only three on goal as HPU shot 10 times with six on goal. Grace Shurley had five shots with two on goal as Makayla Baxter took three shots with one goal scored. Cadence Tischler had four saves.
 
In the first 14 minutes of the match, ETBU took five shots in a four-minute period. They had two on goal in the 12^th and 13^th minutes. HPU took four shots with three on goal.
 
It took just five minutes into the second half for HPU to break the tie for the 1-0 lead. Baxter then tied the match at one in the 68^th minute on an assist from Lakin Pennington. That lead lasted just four minutes as HPU scored the winning goal in the 72^nd minute. ETBU had just one shot that missed the goal in the final 18 minutes.
 
ETBU will host LeTourneau University on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 5:00 p.m.
