MARSHALL, Texas – Back-to-back goals in less than a minute of the first period led East Texas Baptist University to a 3-1 win over LeTourneau University in American Southwest Conference play. This is the final time the two teams will meet in the ASC, with a possible post-season meeting as LETU transitions to a new conference next season. ETBU is now 5-8-1 and 3-4-0 in the ASC, tied for third place with Howard Payne.
 
ETBU took 12 shots with seven on goal, while LETU had 10 shots and five on goal. Makayla Baxter provided two goals, and Grace Shurley had the third goal. Baxter and Shurley each had three shots as Baxter put two on goal. Cadence Tischler finished with four saves, giving up one goal.
 
In the first half, ETBU had four shots, two on goal. Baxter scored the first goal in the 22nd minute and then lasered in the ball from 20 yards out just under a minute later for the 2-0 lead. LETU had three shots, with Tischler recording one save in the 20th minute as ETBU took a 2-0 halftime lead.
 
ETBU's first shot of the second period didn't come until the 51st minute by Baxter. Shurley made it 3-0 with her goal less than a minute later. ETBU had four more shots on goal in the half, but none went into the goal. LETU received their lone goal in the 67th minute. Tischler had three saves after LETU's first shot of the second half in the 78th, 83rd, and 88th' minutes, preserving the win, 3-1.
 
ETBU will host Mary Hardin-Baylor at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday in ASC play.
