#TIGERSWIN | VB | ETBU Finishes Perfect in ASC at 8-0

MARSHALL, Texas – Winning the 2024 American Southwest Conference Regular Season Championship undefeated, no. 10 East Texas Baptist came away with a 3-1 win over Howard Payne University, 25-17, 25-21, 23-25, 25-16. ETBU is now 21-1 and finished with an 8-0 record in the ASC. ETBU is now on a 20-match winning streak and extended their home win streak to 24 matches.Today also marked senior day as Maddison Harris, Grace Williamson, Avery Reid, and Hannah Perry were recognized. 
 
ETBU had 60 kills, hitting .211 overall and held HPU to a .186 slugging percentage. Avery Reid recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 16 digs. Graycee Mosley added 19 kills with a .306 hitting percentage with seven digs. McKenzie Mansell finished with 34 assists as Lexi Moody added 20 assists. Callie Humphrey had 17 digs.
 
ETBU led the entire set one, with the score being close for the first nine points. Tied at nine, ETBU went on a 5-0 run to go up 14-9, with kills from Hannah Perry, Mosley, and Emily Millikan. HPU cut the lead to four, 16-12, but four straight points from ETBU made it 20-12 as Mosley had two kills. HPU made it 23-16, only to have a service error and a Reid kill to end the set, 25-17.
 
Set three started with an 8-2 run by ETBU with five kills and a Humphrey service ace. HPU bounced back to come within one, 10-9, only to let ETBU score six of the following seven points, making it 16-10. Perry and Reid had two kills each in the run. Once again, HPU returned to within one, 19-18, and 22-21, only to let ETBU win the set on the final three points on a Reid kill, HPU attack error, and Mansell service ace, 25-21.
 
HPU carried the momentum into set three, taking the win, 25-23. The Yellow Jackets had a four-point lead, 13-9, but ETBU came storming back on a 7-0 run for a three-point lead, 16-13. Three kills came in the run from Mosley, Perry, and Reid. ETBU was up 19-17 and 20-19, but HPU scored three straight for a two-point lead, 22-20. HPU had set point at 24-22, but a service error made it 24-23. An ETBU attack error ended the set as HPU won, 25-23.
 
Tied at thee in set four, ETBU went on a 4-0 run with two kills from Maddison Harris. A Mansell service ace put the score at 12-5, and a Mosely kill made it 16-6. Mosley then made it 20-9 on a kill, but HPU stopped ETBU's run with their kill. Kills from Harris and Mosley and a Sadie Kasowski service ace put the score at 23-10. HPU scored six of the following seven points to pull within eight, 24-16, but a Millikan kill ended the match, 25-16.
 
ETBU will be home on Tuesday, hosting Centenary College at 3:00 p.m.
