MARSHALL, Texas – In a defensive battle, East Texas Baptist University gave the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor a run in the season's final American Southwest Conference match, 3-1. ETBU is now 5-9-1 and 3-5-0 in the ASC.
ETBU had no shots in the match, and their own goal was the only score. UMHB shot the ball 29 times, with 17 shots on goal, three of which went in.
Cadence Tischler had a career-high 14 saves.
Just over 11 minutes into the match, ETBU went up 1-0 on an own goal. The ETBU defense was decisive for the next 12 minutes until UMHB tied the match at one (23:18). Just before the half, the Cru made it 2-1 in the 43
rd minute.
UMHB kept the 2-1 lead and scored an insurance goal in the 80
th minute to win 3-1.
ETBU will host the University of Texas Dallas at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
