#TIGERSWIN | VB | ETBU Battles Back for Road Win at HSU, 3-1

ABILENE, Texas – A slow start for no. 11 East Texas Baptist University turned into a four-set battle ending in their favor over Hardin-Simmons University, 3-1 (13-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-23). ETBU is now 15-1 and 3-0 in the ASC, posting a 14-match winning streak.
 
Avery Reid hit .342 with 20 kills and 11 digs for her first double-double of the year. Graycee Mosley followed with 18 kills and eight digs. Lexi Moody, who surpassed 1,500 career assists, had 23 assists, while McKenzie Mansell collected 27 assists. Callie Humphrey led the team with 14 digs as Grace Williamson recorded four blocks. ETBU hit .241 with 60 kills and an outstanding .457 percentage in set two with 20 kills. After set one, ETBU's defense held HSU to .000 in set three and .156 in set four for hitting.
 
HSU took a 6-0 lead in set one and never looked back in the 25-13 win. The closest ETBU came to HSU was five points, 9-4.
 
Set two brought a 5-1 lead for ETBU on five straight kills, while Mosley had three and Reid two. HSU battled back to tie the set at nine and 10 before ETBU took a 13-10 lead on three straight Mosley kills. ETBU kept a three-point lead, 19-16, and scored four of the following five points for a 23-17 lead on another kill by Mosley. The set ended on an HSU error, 25-18.
 
Three straight kills by ETBU from Hannah Perry, Reid, and Mosley put the Tigers up, 6-3. HSU pulled to within one, 7-6, but six straight points by ETBU made it 13-6. Anita Hancock and Reid each had a kill with four HSU errors. Holding a four-point lead, 18-14, ETBU went on a 4-0 run for an eight-point lead, 22-14. Williamson and Reid had kills, with Sadie Kasowski providing a service ace. HSU was back to within six, 22-16, but three Reid kills in the next four serves gave ETBU the win, 25-17.
 
A hard-fought set four went to ETBU, 25-23. HSU took a 4-2 lead only to see ETBU tie it at five on a Raylynn Pitts kill. HSU went back up, 9-7, and 12-9 before ETBU came within one, 13-12, on a Reid kill. Two HSU errors tied the set at 14 and ETBU won four of the next six points for an 18-16 lead. Mosley had two kills and Perry one for the two-point advantage. HSU only retook the 19-18 lead to see ETBU score five of the following six points for a 23-20 lead. Williamson and Reid each had a kill. A Reid kill put the score at 24-21, but HSU received the following two points, coming within one, 24-23. Hancock ended the match with a kill, 25-23, as ETBU moved to 3-0 in the ASC.
 
ETBU will play Howard Payne University at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday in Brownwood.
