MBB | ETBU Can't Catch Up to UD's Fast Start Dropping Fourth Game on Road

IRVING, Texas – Taking on their fourth opponent on the road in the past two weeks, East Texas Baptist University couldn't overcome a fast University of Dallas start in the 81-68 loss. ETBU is now 0-4 on the year.

Michael Roberts led the team with 18 points, Jason Justice had 16, and Nicolas Morin added 10. Roberts led the team with just three rebounds.

ETBU shot 51 percent from the floor, 50 percent from the arc, and 71 percent from the line. Dallas went 28-of-45 from the floor (62 percent), made 50 percent of their three-pointers, and shot 38 free throws as 22 went in (57 percent). Dallas also outrebounded ETBU 29-21.

UD jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first three minutes, shooting 63 percent in the half. Morin hit a three-pointer at 12:18 to cut the lead to three, 16-13, but UD went on a 17-3 run over seven minutes for a 17-point lead, 33-16. ETBU went four minutes in that run without hitting a shot. Colin Roberts brought the lead down to 10, 37-27, banking in a layup just before the half.

ETBU cut the lead to six, 46-38, on a Roberts layup under five minutes into the second half. It remained a six-point lead, 53-47, with 9:02 left on a Jeremiah Smith three-pointer (9:02). In three minutes, UD had the lead back to 18, 66-48, on a 13-1 run. Once again, ETBU went over three minutes before making a basket. JT Curry had a layup at 4:39, putting ETBU within 10, 66-56, but that was as close as the Tigers would come the rest of the game. UD moved the lead to 17 twice before Lance Paterson had two layups in the final 15 seconds to make the final 81-68.

ETBU will host Hendrix College on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
