#TIGERSWIN | VB | #11 ETBU Handles #16 Southwestern for 22-Straight Win

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Dominating no. 16 Southwestern University in a top 20 match-up, no. 11 East Texas Baptist University won over the Pirates, 3-1, 25-14, 21-25, 25-16, 25-16. ETBU moves their win streak to 22 matches with a 23-1 record and is 2-1 vs. ranked opponents this year.
 
ETBU hit .271 with 61 kills, 72 digs, and 18 total blocks. They held Southwestern to a .115 hitting percentage and single-digit kills in sets one (9) and four (8). ETBU's best set came in set one with a .414 hitting percentage. They posted 19 kills in set three with a .395 percentage.
 
Graycee Mosley and Avery Reid combined for 35 kills and 27 digs. Mosley recorded 19 kills and 15 digs, and Reid added 16 kills and 12 digs, both hitting over .300. Emily Millikan added nine kills and five blocks. McKenzie Mansell added 29 assists and five serving aces with seven digs. Lexi Moody gained 20 assists and six digs. Callie Humphrey gave 14 digs. Grace Williamson finished with five kills and four blocks as Sadie Kaswoski had 11 digs.
 
Southwestern took a 3-2 lead as ETBU responded with a kill from Millikan, Raylynn Pitts, and Mosley with a Pirate error for a 6-3 lead. ETBU kept the one-point lead, 7-6, and went on a 5-0 run with four kills and a Mosley service ace to go up 12-6. A Southwestern kill brought ETBU's lead to five, 13-8, but three kills later by Millikan, Reid, and Mosley made it 16-8. Still within six, 18-12, ETBU had a 6-0 run, extending the lead to 12, 24-12, on two kills and four SU errors. An SU service error ended set one, 25-14.
 
Set two was Southwestern's best as they took a four-point win, 25-21. SU started with an 8-1 lead and then made it 17-9. ETBU answered with eight points, tying the set at 17 on a Mansell service ace. There were four kills and two Mansell service aces in the run. SU answered with a 6-2 run and a four-point lead, 23-19. An ETBU attack error gave SU their only set win, 25-21.
 
ETBU hit .395 in set three in the nine-point win, 25-16. Up 6-5, ETBU scored six of the following eight points for a five-point lead, 12-7, as Moody, Reid, and Emily Sitton produced kills. Another run, 5-0, gave ETBU a 17-8 lead with a four-point run making it 21-13. A Williamson kill made it 24-15, and Mosley ended the set on a kill, 25-16.
 
Reid and Pitts put ETBU up 3-0 to start set four. Reid had a kill and a service ace as Pitts recorded a kill. SU came within two, 7-5, only to see ETBU score nine of the following 10 points, putting the lead at 11, 17-6. ETBU had seven kills in a row, two service aces from Mansell, and an SU error for the 10 points. SU was within eight, 18-10, five of the following seven points favored ETBU, 23-12. Mosley had two kills as Williamson had one. After SU scored four more points, a Reid kill came as the 24th point, and Sitton finished off the match with a kill, 25-16.
 
ETBU will host Austin College on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in Ornelas Gym.
