#TIGERSWIN | VB | ETBU Holds Off AC Moving Home Win Streak to 25 Matches

MARSHALL, Texas – Moving their home winning streak to 25 matches in a competitive match, no. 10 East Texas Baptist University held off Austin College, 3-1, 25-22, 23-25, 31-29, 25-11. ETBU has now won 23 matches in a row, moving to 24-1.
 
ETBU hit .224 with 70 kills, 105 digs, and 13 total blocks. The Tigers had their best set in the fourth, hitting .375 with 18 kills. ETBU's defense held AC to a .196 hitting percentage including a .023 percentage in set four with just six kills.
 
Graycee Mosley and Avery Reid combined for 45 kills, as Mosley produced 27 with 39 digs. Reid added 18 kills, hitting .372 with seven digs. Of the 105 team digs, Mosley and Callie Humphrey accounted for 65 of them, as Humphrey finished with 25 digs. Lexi Moody and McKenzie Mansell combined for 57 assists, with Moody leading the team with 32 and Mansell having 25 assists. Of the 13 total blocks Grace Williamson led the team with four, Emily Sitton and Hannah Perry each contributed three, and Emily Millikin had two.
 
Set one began with a strong 5-1 opening for the Tigers off a kill, three service aces from Reid, and a kill from Raylynn Pitts. ETBU maintained their four-point lead as the Roo's tried to close the gap 10-6 off an error and kills from Williamson, Mosley, Sitton, and Reid. Austin College took the lead, going on a 6-0 run 12-11, but a kill from Pitts would tie things up 12. An error by Austin College gave ETBU a 17-16 lead. Austin College responded with back-to-back kills to take a one-point lead, 18-17. Williamson, Reid, and Millikan's kills tied the score at 20. A Tiger's 3-0 run with kills from Millikan and Reid makes it 23-20. Two kills from Mosley closed out the first set 25-22 as ETBU took the lead.
 
Austin College took a 4-0 lead, but ETBU responded with kills from Mosley, Millikan, and Sitton to tie it 6. Errors from Roos and kills from Sitton and Reid tied it 10. Austin College ended the tie with three straight points, 16-13. A kill from Sitton closed the lead to two, but the Roo's were able to stay ahead 17-14. A three-point run from the Tigers evened the score at 17. After exchanging points, Austin College went up by one, 21-20. ETBU regained the lead-off kills from Mosley and errors by Austin to go up 23-22. The Roos, though, were able to close out the set for a 25-23 victory on a kill, service ace, and error by the Tigers.
 
With the match tied at one, a win in set three was crucial to gaining momentum. Both sides fought hard, with the first tie coming at three. ETBU gained the lead off a kill from Mosley, but Austin Colege quickly answered with a kill and an ETBU error, 5-4. Another tie came from kills of Mosley and Reid, making it 6-6. ETBU was down one, 8-7, and broke off a seven-point run with a kill from Perry, a service ace from Mansell, and three Austin College errors to go up, 14-8. Reid and Millikin had kills to keep a six-point lead of 16-10. The Roo's sped ahead to a three-point lead after a 9-0 run to make it 19-16. ETBU responded with kills from Mosley and Williamson and errors from the Roos to tie it at 20. Both teams traded points with each other to reach another tie. A mistake by Austin College gave ETBU a one-point lead, but a Tiger service error tied it at 29. A service error by the Roos and a kill from Mosley closed out the set 31-29 as ETBU took a 2-1 lead.  
 
ETBU ran away with the set four win, 25-11, but Austin College took an early lead, 5-3. ETBU answered on a 4-0 run off Austin errors and kills from Williamson and Mosley to gain a lead of 7-5. ETBU protected their lead with a 6-0 run with kills from Mosley and Sitton to make it 13-6. Austin College tried to close the gap, but ETBU had another run, 6-0, with kills from Millikan, Sitton, and Reid to go up 21-8. Mansell's service ace and a kill from Millikin gave ETBU a 14-point lead, 23-9. The final point came from Hannah Perry with a kill, ending the match 25-11.  
 
ETBU travels to Conway, Ark., this weekend for two more regular season matches at Hendrix College.
