#TIGERSWIN | MBB | Three-Pointers Key to ETBU's Final Win in Alpine

ALPINE, Texas – Living by the three-point shot, East Texas Baptist University shot 64 percent from the arc making nine three-pointers holding off Sul Ross State University, 74-65. It is the last time ETBU will travel out to Alpine to face the Lobos as they transition to NCAA Division II next year. ETBU is now 13-10 on the year.
 
Darry Moore collected 21 points and nine rebounds to lead the team. Jaden Conner finished with 15 points and six rebounds making three three-pointers. Jayden Williams added 11 points and four assists also swooshing three three-pointers. Kurt Labeaud had six assists. Two players in Tyler Jackson and Myles Amason led SRSU with 12 points.
 
Making 47 percent of their shots, ETBU went 9-of-14 from the three-point line (64 percent) and was 13-of-18 at the line (72 percent). SRSU finished at 43 percent from the floor, 23 percent on three-pointers, and 84 percent in free shots. SRSU out rebounded ETBU, 32-31.
 
ETBU set the tone in the first six minutes of the game taking an eight-point lead, 14-6, on a Labeaud jumper. At 11:50, Michael Roberts hit two free throws for an 11-point lead, 21-10. By the 8:34 mark, ETBU had a 15-point lead, 29-14, with a Williams three-pointer. Joshua R Davis canned a three-pointer at 5:22 for a 19-point lead, 35-16, but SRSU ended the final five minutes on a 12-6 run cutting ETBU's lead to 13, 41-28, at the half.
 
Williams put the lead back at 13, 45-32, at 17:55 on a three-pointer but by 14:50 SRSU was within seven, 48-41. By the 13:15 mark, SRSU cut the lead to five, 50-45. ETBU's lead was down to two points, 52-50, with 10:18 left to play but in the next five minutes the Tigers out scored SRSU, 14-9, for a 10-point lead, 64-54. The lead was once again down to two points, 64-62, with 3:06 left in the game but in almost two minutes the lead was back to eight, 70-62, on a Davis jumper. In the final minute, Moore and Labeaud both made their free throws for the nine-point win, 74-65.
 
ETBU will host Ozarks on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in ASC play.
