Pomona-Pitzer took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning but ETBU rallied in the fourth inning taking a 2-1 lead when the rain hit. Rumachik walked with the bases loaded to tie the game and Burnaman singled as Durdin came in for the lead. The bases were loaded when the evening skies started a down pour and the game was delayed for two hours.
The Sagehens came back and brought in a new pitcher allowing Massarini a sacrifice fly to right field for the two-run lead, 3-1. Pomona-Pitzer added a run in the sixth and tied the game in the seventh at three before taking the lead, 4-3, in the top of the eighth inning.
ETBU tied the game at four on a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning as
Carson Wilson came in. On that same play, Burnaman was the go-ahead run as the catcher over threw third base allowing him to score to make it 5-4.
After a single started the inning a caught foul ball for the first out, back-to-back walks loaded the bases. A Sagehen pinch hitter singled down the right field line to retake the lead, 6-5. The next batter was hit by the pitch before Pomona-Pitzer finished off the scoring with a grand slam home run for the five-run lead, 10-5. ETBU had only one hit in the bottom of the ninth as the series ended in favor of the Sagehens.
ETBU's schedule doesn't get any easier as they head to Alabama next weekend to face #6 Lynchburg, #12 Birmingham Southern, and Millkin in the BSC Classic.
