HOUSTON, Texas – Sweeping the singles portion of the match, East Texas Baptist University won, 8-1, over the University of St. Thomas Texas. ETBU is now 3-0.
 
Orren Lander and Zachary Couch won a tiebreaker at no. 2 doubles, 8-7, for a 1-0 lead. Jacob Daniell and Erick Van Zyl then won, 8-1, at no. 3 for a 2-0 lead. Sam Black and Max Karseno fell at no. 1, 8-7, in a tiebreaker.
 
ETBU won three tiebreaking matches to help sweep singles play. Black took the no. 1 match, 4-6, 6-1, 10-7, and Couch came through at no. 3, 4-6, 6-0, 10-3. Slade Austin was the third tiebreaking match, 7-6 (10-1), 6-3. Karseno won the no. 2 match, 6-2, 6-1, and Ladner won no. 4, 6-1, 6-0. Van Zyl finished off the scoring, 6-2, 6-4, at no. 6 for the 8-1 win.
 
ETBU will face Austin College tomorrow morning in Sherman, Texas.
