SHERMAN, Texas – Off to their best start in program history, East Texas Baptist University won their fourth straight match with an 8-1 win over Austin College. ETBU's 4-0 record surpasses the best start of 3-0, twice, in program history.
One of the closest matches took place in doubles play as ETBU won the no. 1 match, 8-6, with
Kayden Lengacher and
Drew Van Wyk.
Moritz Hartmann and
Ian Williams then won no. 2 doubles, 8-3.
Carson Crow and
Slade Austin won by forfeit in no. 3
Austin College too the no. 1 match in singles as ETBU swept through two through six. Williams won the no. 2 match, 6-3, 6-4, and Hartmann took a tiebreaker in no. 3, 7-6 (10-4), 6-2. Van Wyk then held onto the no. 4 match, 6-3, 6-2, and Crow won the no. 5 match, 6-3, 6-0.
Erick Van Zyl won by forfeit at no. 6 for the 8-1 win.
ETBU will next play Schreiner University on March 1 in Kerrville, Texas, at 4:00 p.m.
