HOUSTON, Texas – Heading south for regional play, East Texas Baptist University swept through doubles play en route to an 8-1 victory over the University of St. Thomas Texas. ETBU is now 3-0 on the year.
 
ETBU started the match with 8-4 wins at no. 1 and no. 3 doubles and an 8-5 win at no. 2. Monique Ybarra and Addy Seward won the no. 1 match to lead 1-0 and then Kristyn Dunn and Isabelle Duarte then made it 2-0. Bailey Smith and Jayde Childress pushed the score to 3-0 taking no. 3.
 
In singles play, ETBU won no. 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 for the 8-1 win. Childress was the first singles winner at no. 5 blanking her opponent, 6-0, 6-0. Dunn then won no. 6, 7-5, 6-1. Smith took the no. 3 match, 6-4, 6-2 and Duarte won by retirement in no. 4, 2-6, 6-3, retired. Seward finished off the scoring with a tiebreaker, 7-5, 4-6, 10-6.
 
ETBU will travel to Sherman, Texas, on Saturday to face Austin College.
