MARSHALL, Texas – Scoring three 9.0+ scores, East Texas Baptist University scored 224.395 points in their fourth meet of the year falling to #13 Augustana University's (S.D.) 268.270. This is the second meet this season that ETBU has faced a nationally ranked program and is 1-3 on the year.
ETBU scored a 9.70 in the compulsory pyramid heat as their top score of the meet. They also had a 9.55 in the compulsory toss heat and a 9.60 in the pyramid open.
The opening event was the compulsory where ETBU scored 28.05 to Augustana's 37.10. The 9.70 and 9.55 were two of the top three 9.0s for ETBU in the meet.
In the acro event, ETBU had two 8.0 scores with an 8.05 in the 5-Element and an 8.00 in the 7-Element. ETBU scored 20.05 to Augustana's 28.30.
The pyramid event brought 26.60 points with a 9.60 in the open. They then scored an 8.65 in inversion and an 8.35 in the synchronized. ETBU trailed Augustana, 94.75 to 74.70 at the half.
The closest event of the meet was the toss as ETBU fell to Augustana, 26.90 to 25.20. ETBU had 8.0s in all three heats. In the 450 Salto, ETBU had an 8.50 followed by an 8.40 in the synchronized. They finished with an 8.30 in the open.
Augustana finished almost 13 points ahead of ETBU in the tumbling event, 52.10 to 43.675. ETBU had two 8.0s in the event with an 8.75 in the aerial pass by
Macie Goff and an 8.40 in the open pass from Jessica Kuhlman.
In the team event, ETBU scored an 80.82 which is their best team score of the season.
ETBU will travel to Seguin, Texas, on Saturday to face Texas Lutheran University at 1:00 p.m.
