HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Opening up spring break 2024, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis program held off Illinois Tech, 7-2. ETBU is now 7-2 on the year.
ETBU opened up doubles play with a 2-1 lead winning at no. 2 and no. 3.
Erick Van Zyl and
Jacob Daniell won 8-5 at no. 2 and
Zachary Couch and
Orren Ladner took the no. 3 match, 8-4.
Taking the first three singles matches, ETBU won the match early on. Karseno won the no. 1 match, 6-0, 6-1, and
Sam Black took the no. 2 match, 6-1, 6-4. Couch then won the no. 3 match, 6-0, 6-2.
Slade Austin had a close match at no. 5, 7-5, 6-0, and then Van Zyl won no. 6, 6-1, 6-2.
ETBU will take on Carroll College (WI) on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.
