HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Staying undefeated on their spring break trip, the East Texas Baptist University men's tennis team came from behind for a 6-3 win over Carroll University (WI). Their 8-2 record continues to be the best start in program history and the eight wins is second most in program history.
ETBU was down, 2-1, after doubles play.
Erick Van Zyl and
Jacob Daniell won the no. 2 match, 8-6, for the only match point. ETBU lost no. 1 doubles, 8-3, and no. 3 doubles, 8-4.
Carroll went up 3-1 taking the no. 2 match when
Max Karseno withdrew.
Zachary Couch then won one of the two tie breaking matches that won the match for ETBU. Couch won the no. 3 match, 6-7, 6-1, 10-8.
Sam Black tied the match at three points all with a tie breaking win at no. 1, 4-6, 7-6, 10-3.
Slade Austin then won the no. 4 match, 7-5, 6-3, and
Orren Ladner put ETBU up, 5-3, with a 6-3, 6-0, win at no. 5. Daniell gave ETBU the sixth point taking the no. 6 match, 6-3, 6-2.
ETBU ends their Spring Break Trip on Thursday against Shenandoah.
