HILTON HEAD, S.C. – In their opening match on their 2024 spring break trip, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team won, 6-3, over Coe College (IA). ETBU stays undefeated on the year at 7-0.
 
ETBU took all three doubles matches with one close match. Bailey Smith and Jayde Childress won the no. 2 match, 8-1, for the first team point. Kirstyn Dunn and Isabell Duarte won a close no. 3 match, 8-7, to make it 2-0. Addy Seward and Monique Ybarra then made it 3-0 with an 8-4 win at no. 1.
 
Smith gave ETBU a 4-0 lead taking the no. 3 singles match, 6-0, 6-4, but Coe College won two tie breaking matches at no. 1 and no. 2 to pull within two, 4-2. Duarte then won no. 4 match, 6-4, 6-4, for the team win but Coe took the no. 5 match in a tiebreaker for a 5-3 score. Dunn finished off the match with a 7-6, 6-4, win at no. 6.
 
ETBU will take on Carroll College (WI) on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.
