HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Sweeping Carroll University (WI), 9-0, at the USPTR Hilton Head Tournament, the East Texas Baptist University women's tennis team moved to 8-0 on the year. This is their second best start in program history behind the 9-0 start in the 2016 season.
Cruising to a 3-0 lead in doubles, ETBU had one close match at no. 2.
Jayde Childress and
Bailey Smith won, 8-6.
Kristyn Dunn and Isabell Duarte won the no. 3 match, 8-2, and
Addy Seward and
Monique Ybarra won 8-0 at no. 1.
With only one close match in singles, Dunn won the tiebreaker for the win at no. 6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-0). The other close match came at no. 4 singles when Duarte won 6-1, 7-5. Ybarra shut out her opponent at no. 1, 6-0, 6-0, and Seward won the no. 2 match, 6-1, 6-0. Smith took the no. 3 match, 6-2, 6-1, and Childress won the no. 5 match, 6-3, 6-1.
ETBU ends their Spring Break Trip on Thursday against Shenandoah.
