AUSTIN, Texas – In a closer match than what the score depicts, East Texas Baptist University fell to Concordia University Texas, 8-1. ETBU is now 5-1 on the year.
In close doubles play, CTX took a 2-1 lead.
Zachary Couch and
Orren Ladner fell at no. 3, 8-5, in the first match done.
Sam Black and
Max Karseno then fell, 8-6, at no. 1 to fall behind, 2-0.
Jacob Daniell and
Erick Van Zyle then took the no. 3 match, 8-7, for the only point of the match.
CTX won the first three singles matches to take the win overall. Couch fell in no. 3, 6-1,6-2, and then Karseno had two close sets in a loss, 6-3, 6-4, at no. 2. Black then fell 6-2, 7-5, at no. 1 as ETBU was down, 5-1. Ladner then had a close set one at no. 4, 7-6, but lost set two, 6-0.
Slade Austin then fell at no. 5, 6-1, 6-3, and Van Zyl lost at no. 6, 7-5, 6-1.
ETBU will take on Covenant College on Tuesday in Wills Point, Texas.
