MARSHALL, Texas – Securing the series sweep over Mary Hardin-Baylor, no. 4 East Texas Baptist University shut out the Crusaders, 6-0, in the final game and now has won 16 games in a row. ETBU is now 17-1 and 9-0 in the American Southwest Conference.
 
Madalyn Melton had a day for the Tigers earning the win and hitting a home run. She went seven innings for to move to 2-0 on the year recording four strikeouts and allowing just three hits. She retired the side in the second, fourth, and seventh innings. At the plate, she was 2-of-3 with the home run.
 
Three players combined for six of the eight hits for ETBU was each had two in Melton, Tristen Maddox, and Haylie Stum. Stum had a home run for three-RBI while Maddox added two RBI on a home run along with Melton's one RBI.
 
After a scoreless first inning, Melton hit her first home run of the year with two outs just over the left field fence for a 1-0 lead in the second. Stum then made it 4-0 in the third inning with her third home run of the year with a three-run shot to left field with one out. Maddox made it a trifecta on the day in home runs for ETBU as she rocketed the ball over the bleachers in left field for two runs making it 6-0 in the sixth inning.
 
ETBU will be at home on Thursday, March 28, at 2:00 p.m. vs. Birmingham Southern College.
