WILLS POINT, Texas – Tying the program record for wins in a season, East Texas Baptist University took an 8-1 win over Willamette University on a neutral court at Wills Point High School Tennis Courts. ETBU is now 10-4 on the year tying the 10 wins from last year as the best in program history.
ETBU took a quick 3-0 lead after doubles play starting with an 8-4 win at no. 1 from
Sam Black and
Max Karseno.
Jacob Daniell and
Erick Van Zyl then won the no. 2 match, 8-3, with an 8-1 win at no. 3 doubles from
Slade Austin and
Zachary Couch.
After a loss at no. 1 singles, ETBU had quick wins at no. 2 singles by Karseno (6-3, 6-1), and
Orren Ladner at no. 5, 6-3, 6-0. Daniell then won at no. 6, 6-2, 6-2. Couch had a closer match at no. 3, 6-1, 7-5, as did Austin at no. 4, 6-1, 7-5.
ETBU will face Mary Hardin-Baylor on Wednesday in Belton, Texas, in an ASC Crossover match.
