WILLS POINT, Texas – Shutting out Willamette University, 9-0, East Texas Baptist University moved to 11-1 on the year. ETBU played the Bearcats at a neutral site at the Wills Point High School Tennis Courts.
It was a clean sweep in doubles for ETBU taking a quick 3-0 lead.
Monique Ybarra and
Addy Seward won the no. 1 match, 8-1, as did
Isabelle Duarte and
Kristyn Dunn at no. 3.
Jayde Childress and
Bailey Smith then took the no. 2 match, 8-4.
All six singles matches did not have close scores as ETBU cruised to the victory. Ybarra won the no. 1 match, 6-1, 6-2, and Seward took the no. 2 match, 6-1, 6-0. Smith then had a closer match at no. 3 winning, 6-2, 6-3, and Duarte won the no. 4 match, 6-2, 6-2. Both Childress (no. 5) and Dunn (no. 6) won their matches, 6-1, 6-1, each.
ETBU will travel to Belton, Texas, on Wednesday to face Mary Hardin-Baylor.
