MARSHALL, Texas – In another regional match up for men's tennis, East Texas Baptist University fell shy of a win, 7-2, to Rhodes College. ETBU is now 6-2 on the year as they head into their spring break trip.
ETBU opened with a 2-1 lead in doubles. After going down, 1-0, losing the no. 3 match,
Jacob Daniell and
Erick Van Zyle won the no. 2 match, 8-7, in a tiebreaker.
Max Karseno and
Sam Black then won the no. 1 doubles match, 8-7, in a tiebreaker for the lead.
Rhodes bounced back taking all six singles matches. ETBU's closes matches came at no. 2 and no. 6 singles. In no. 2, Karseno fell, 7-5, 6-1, and Van Zyl lost the no. 6 match, 7-5, 6-3.
ETBU will travel to Hilton Head, S.C., for three matches next week vs. Illinois Tech, Carroll University, and Shenandoah.
