#TIGERSWIN | SB | ETBU's Holland Throws Perfect Game as Pitching Allows One Hit in Sweep of Ozarks

MARSHALL, Texas – What a day it was at Jason Bell Park at Taylor Field as no. 3 East Texas Baptist University put together two beautifully pitched games in a sweep of the University of the Ozarks, 9-0, and 8-0. ETBU's staff gave up just one hit in game one and Avery Holland pitched a perfect, five-inning game in game two. ETBU is now 31-2 on the year and 21-1 in the ASC.
 
Holland threw a perfect game with eight ground outs, three ground outs, and four strikeouts for the 15 batters faced in five innings. Hannah Benavides went four innings in game one allowing just one hit with one strikeout. She had a perfect game through three innings before giving up a hit in the fourth inning. Jade Owens pitched the fifth inning recording one strikeout with no runs and no hits.
 
Emma Bell went 4-for-5 on the day to lead the team in hits. Tauryn Cummings added three hits while Izabella Morales and Tristen Maddox gained two hits. Bell and Maddox each had three RBI as Cummings, Courtney White, and Madalyn Melton added two RBI and Morales and Ava Rodriguez with one RBI. Maddox had two home runs on the day while Cummings also added one.
 
Game 1
ETBU 9, Ozarks 0

Scoring nine runs in the first three innings, ETBU run ruled Ozarks, 9-0. Maddox added two hits as both were home runs for three RBI. Bell also had two hits for two RBI. White added two RBI as Melton recorded one RBI.
 
Benavides retired the first nine batters before hitting a batter to start the fourth. Ozarks broke the no-hitter also in the fourth but Benavides stayed perfect on the year at 13-0. Jade Owens went the fifth inning with no runs or hits and one strikeout.
 
Maddox hit a home run in her first at-bat of the game for a 1-0 lead in the first. Bell then earned a RBIL with a bunt single and Melton had a sac fly for the 3-0 lead. Mallory Pyle was the fourth run of the game coming in the second inning and then Maddox hit her second home run of the day for two RBI and a 6-0 lead. Bell tripled in Morales as ETBU took a 7-0 lead. White finished off the scoring with a double that brought in two runs and the 9-0 victory.
 
Game 2
ETBU 8, Ozarks 0

Holland had a perfect five-inning game as ETBU recorded seven hits for the shut-out win. Cummings and Bell both had two hits to lead the team. Cummings led with two RBI with a home run and Bell, Rodriguez, Melton, and Morales all had one RBI.
 
ETBU scored two in the second inning for the 2-0 lead. Melton came home on a passed ball for the first run. Shelby Navarrete then stole home for the second run. In the third inning, Bell singled in a run followed by a Melton sac fly for the 4-0 lead. Four runs were scored in the fourth inning making it 8-0. Morales doubled in a run and then Cummings had a two-run home run for the 7-0 lead. Rodriguez gave ETBU the eighth run of the game on a double as Bell came in making it 8-0.
 
ETBU will host senior day on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in the final home regular season game of the year.
