TAME | MBB | Honduras - Recap #5

5/17/2024 12:44:00 PM

Today's recap for the ETBU Men's Basketball TAME trip to Roatan is provided by Freshmen Nate Fleming and Nikolas (Tiki) Morin:

"Our day started off with homemade breakfast tacos by our host family before heading out to the Roatan Rehabilitation Center. The rehab center was an incredible experience as God has worked in a miraculous way amongst all the people who live there. Dylan, the founder of the rehab center, shared his testimony and it was very eye opening to hear about all he had gone through and how he was able to find the Lord and continue to serve Him daily. Some of us had the opportunity to share our testimonies before the work started.

A few of us helped move piles of sand/dirt for them to be able to collect more water during rainfall, while the others of us helped build chicken coops for their chickens to have a nicer place to lay their eggs. Once we were done with the chicken coops and sand, we were able to visit with the people living in the facility, while also having lunch with them. Before we were able to eat though, one really cool experience was Dylan playing and singing a song while everyone walked around in a circle clapping, dancing, and praising the Lord. This was not something I had ever experienced before but was incredible to see and be a part of. After we ate, we loaded up and headed back for some down time before our afternoon activity.

After some down time at the refuge, we took a boat out to the second biggest coral reef in the world and were able to go snorkeling at the reef. Being able to witness this was something I'll never forget because of the pure beauty of the nature. Once our time snorkeling was done, we headed back for dinner and our nightly debrief. The debrief this evening happened around a campfire where we made s'mores and sang a few worship songs just enjoying the nature and beauty God has given to this place. Three more of our teammates shared their six H's and we were able to pray over them. Only a few days left on the trip but we can't wait to see what else the Lord has in store for us."
