Today's recap for the ETBU Men's Basketball TAME trip to Roatan is provided by Seniors Ryan Elzy and Josh Davis.
"After another warm day in Honduras, we had the opportunity to play against the Honduran National Team. Before we traveled to the mainland for the game though, we ate french toast with cut up bananas on top and sausage on the side for breakfast. Every meal here has been amazing.
We then left the refuge to head to the ferry to travel over to the mainland. The ferry was rough to begin with as it was rocking back at forth, but the longer we were on it the more we became used to it. Once we arrived at the mainland, we got on a bus and went to the hotel before the game.
Before the game started, we honored our nations with both country's national anthems & exchanged gifts between the two teams. We gave the Honduras team an ETBU shirt with players cards inside of them and we received medals to highlight the game. Overall, it was a very competitive game. Back and forth, physical, aggressive, and very warm. One highlight of the game was getting to see Jayden Williams and Coach Lovell speak at halftime and share the Gospel to people in the stands. Despite the loss, we talked to the other team and thanked them for the opportunity to play against them.
On the way back to the hotel, I was extremely tired but I was grateful that I gave it my all and got the experience of a lifetime. Getting to play against the Honduran National Team will most definitely be a moment I remember for the rest of my life."
