MARSHALL, Texas – It was an exciting second half for East Texas Baptist University as they pulled off a 2-1 come-from-behind win over the University of Dallas.
Royce McConnell (Longview, Texas) used his header in the 87
th minute to give ETBU the winning goal as the Tigers held onto the win. ETBU is now 1-0 on the year.
ETBU's offense came alive in the second half with 11 shots, and it finished with 18 overall and five on goal. Dallas collected 11 shots, with six in the first half and five in the second with four on goal.
Junior Lopez posted the year's first goal in the 55
th minute, and then McConnell had the game-winner just 30 minutes later. McConnell led the team with six shots, adding two on goal, as Lopez followed with three shots and one on goal.

Anthony Garcia all had two shots.
Ryan Lord earned the win with three saves in goal.
It was a quiet first half after Dallas scored in the sixth minute for a 1-0 lead. ETBU had seven shots in the half, with one on goal. The only save in the half came from Dallas on
Dylan Garcia's shot in the 20
th minute.
Lord stopped a quick shot by Dallas in the 49
th minute for his first save of the match. Just six minutes later, Lopez was given a breakaway pass down the middle of the field as he tied the game at one (56th minute). Dallas almost re-took the lead in the 63
rd minute, but Lord grabbed his second save in the game.
Bryan Escalera had a shot on goal in the 67th minute that was saved by Dallas, as ETBU had three shots after that moment but couldn't score. In the 81
st minute, Lord came through again with another save as ETBU kept the game tied at one. Six minutes later, McConnell followed up on his deflected shot with his head, giving ETBU the winning goal. The Tigers' defense was strong in the final three minutes, but it did not allow Dallas a chance to tie the game.
ETBU will travel to Arkansas on Sunday to face the University of the Ozarks at 3:00 p.m.
