MARSHALL, Texas – An offensive onslaught from East Texas Baptist University powered the Tigers to a 4-1 victory in men's soccer over McMurry University. ETBU is now 5-2-0 in the year, with a win on a neutral field at Texas Dallas.
ETBU took 22 shots, 11 of which were on goal, with 10 coming in the first and 12 in the second. Four different Tigers scored:
Dylan Garcia,
Regan Trojacek,
Junior Lopez, and
Leonardo Esteban. Trojacek and Garcia both had goals and assists.
Ryan Lord collected four saves, giving up one goal, facing 13 overall shots with five on goal.
Dylan Garcia took five shots with three on goal to lead the team.
McMurry struck first in the 10th minute, but it took just 10 minutes for ETBU's
Dylan Garcia to tie the match at one on an assist from
Bruno Palmieri. Trojacek broke the tie in the 29th minute as Garcia got him the ball for the lead, 2-1. Two of Lord's saves came in the first half in the sixth and 10th minutes.
It took 13 minutes into the second half for ETBU to connect on their third goal. Lopez netted the goal in the 58th minute on an assist from Trojacek. Esteban made it a three-goal lead in the 77th minute as
Diego Valenzuela assisted. McM had only two shots on goal in the half, coming in the 86th and 90th minutes.
ETBU will host Centenary University on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at Cornish Field.
