JACKSON, Miss. – Battling hard in the final 30 minutes of the match, East Texas Baptist University netted the go-ahead goal in the 79
th minute for a 2-1 victory over Belhaven University. ETBU is now 2-1-0 on the year.
Giselle Laredo and
Sarah Ramos had the goals for ETBU as the Tigers recorded 11 shots with five on goal. Belhaven had 14 shots but only five on goal. Laredo took five shots with one on goal as Ramos took three shots with two on goal.
Cadence Tischler recorded four saves on the night.
Giselle Laredo made it 2-1 at 78:34 for the winning goal as ETBU held onto the win. ETBU took seven shots in the second half, with two on goal.
Grace Shurley had a shot on goal at 70:02 before Laredo's goal in the 79
th minute. Tischler had saves in the 71
st and 87
th minutes to secure the win.
Belhaven scored first in the 12
th minute before Ramos tied it at one in the 20th.
Makayla Baxter posted a shot on goal in the 25th minute, and then Ramos had her second of the half in the 35th minute. Tischler stopped shots in the 30
th and 32
nd minutes.
