#TIGERSWIN | VB | No. 2 ETBU Finishes Trip to Georgia Beating Oglethorpe

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. —  After a long month on the road, No. 2 East Texas Baptist University ended their trip in Georgia with a 3-1 win over Oglethorpe University, 25-9, 23-25, 25-22, 25-15. ETBU is now 18-0 and will be at home in Ornelas Gym for their next seven matches.
 
The Tigers capitalized on a strong offensive performance, recording 54 kills with a .281 hitting percentage. Serving was a key factor, with ETBU tallying nine service aces, doubling the number of aces achieved by Oglethorpe.
 
Graycee Mosley was all over the court and led ETBU with 19 kills and 13 digs for her second double-double on the weekend. Lexi Moody recorded 20 assists and added seven digs as Sydney Temple provided 15 assists. Anita Hancock contributed eight kills and was active at the net with two block assists.
 
The first set was dominated by the Tigers. McKinzie Riley and Mosley recorded several kills early in the set. After an early exchange of points, ETBU capitalized on Oglethorpe's errors, with notable contributions from Hancock and Lara Hornsby, widening the gap. Temple and Moody provided several assists allowing for quick points. The set concluded with ETBU decisively closing at 25-9.
 
The second set began with ETBU gaining early momentum, highlighted by a service ace from McKenzie Mansell and a series of effective plays, including kills by Mosley and Hornsby, to establish a 6-2 advantage. ETBU maintained pressure with strong defensive plays, including a block by Kacie Trimble and Hancock, helping to extend the lead to 10-6.
 
Despite the efforts from ETBU, Oglethorpe mounted a comeback late in the set. A series of kills from Oglethorpe and a service ace leveled the score at 20-20. ETBU responded with a kill from Mosley, but Oglethorpe ultimately closed the set with a narrow 25-23 victory.
 
The Tigers came back with revitalized energy in the third set scoring the first two points. Riley contributed two consecutive kills, helping maintain a competitive edge as the early points unfolded.
 
As the set progressed, momentum fluctuated with Oglethorpe briefly taking the lead at 10-6 following a series of successful plays. However, ETBU regained composure, highlighted by a service ace by Hornsby and multiple kills from Mosley, drawing even at 15-15.
 
In the closing moments, ETBU executed a decisive push, aided by Oglethorpe's attack errors and a service error. The team effectively secured the set at 25-22, concluding with an Oglethorpe attack error, sealing the victory in the third set.
 
ETBU surged in the fourth set, beginning with Mosley's consistent contributions. Mosley, assisted by Moody, quickly countered an early service ace by Oglethorpe. The Tigers found momentum midway through the set, as Mosley and Temple combined for a series of crucial points, including a service ace and multiple kills.
 
ETBU maintained their lead, capitalizing on several attack errors from Oglethorpe, which extended their advantage. Gooch and Hancock added to the offensive pressure with key kills. The Tigers closed the set decisively at 25-15, securing the set and finalizing the match with a strong finish from Temple.
 
ETBU is now 18-0 on the season, continuing the longest win streak in program history. The Tigers' 10-match road trip is officially over as they will head home to face Centre College this Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
