#TIGERSWIN | VB | ETBU Earns Hard Fought Sweep Over Centre in Return to Ornelas Gym

MARSHALL, Texas–After being down early in both the second and third sets, No. 2 East Texas Baptist University rallied for a 3-0 sweep of Centre College moving to 19-0 and 5-0 in Ornelas Gym this year. ETBU hosted its first of nine straight home games with a 25-15, 25-23, 25-23 sweep in Ornelas Gym.

Graycee Mosley led the Tigers with 19 kills and 16 digs in an offensive battle collecting her 74th double-double. Lara Hornsby was an offensive weapon with 11 kills. Sadie Kasowski provided two service aces and Sydney Temple and Lexi Moody combined for 26 assists.

ETBU initiated the first set with a strong performance, gaining an early advantage over Centre. The home team capitalized on several errors by Centre, including attack errors and a service error, to build momentum. Notable contributions came from Mosley and Anita Hancock, who each recorded multiple kills, helping ETBU establish a solid lead and eventual win, 25-15.

The second set started with momentum, as Mosley started the scoring with a kill assisted by Moody. Mosley continued to be a key player, adding another kill and capitalizing on an opponent's attack error to give ETBU an early 3-0 lead. However, Centre responded with a series of points, including a kill and multiple errors by ETBU, to briefly take the lead at 5-3.

ETBU regained control midway through the set. A service ace by Kasowski and a series of kills from Mosley and Hornsby brought the score to a tight 14-14. Temple facilitated several scoring plays, helping ETBU edge ahead with a 15-14 advantage.

The set remained competitive, with both teams exchanging points. ETBU capitalized on Centre's miscues and extended their lead through strategic plays by Mosley and Hornsby, eventually closing the set with a 25-23 victory.

The third set was a battle as the Tigers started behind. With Centre ahead, ETBU responded with critical plays from Hancock and Hornsby, narrowing the deficit. Mosley's kill and a subsequent service ace from Kasowski brought ETBU level, setting the stage for a tense conclusion.

In the final stretch, ETBU capitalized on a bad set by Centre, followed by a decisive kill from Lindsey Gooch, securing a 25-23 victory and closing the set with a significant turnaround and win.

The Tigers will return on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. to face Hendrix College in Ornelas Gymnasium.
