#TIGERSWIN | WBB | ETBU Leaves Tennessee Undefeated at 3-0

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Completing their road trip to Tennessee undefeated, East Texas Baptist University came away with a 63-50 win over Berea College. ETBU is now 3-0 and had as large as a 23-point lead in the game.
 
The Tigers capitalized on their defensive presence with six blocks and eight steals, contributing to a 17-point advantage off turnovers. They dominated the rebounding battle, securing 48 boards compared to Berea's 30. ETBU held Berea to just 22 percent shooting while making 43 percent.
 
Macey Jones scored 19 points and recorded two blocks, leading the team. Hannah Ayala recorded 15 rebounds and seven poings. Marley Keith added seven points while recording five assists and three steals. Tristan Smith collected 10 rebounds and tallied three steals and Tiffany Bickford recorded 15 points and six assists.
 
The game opened with ETBU and Berea trading early points, with four ties and two lead changes. ETBU's Jones contributed a crucial jumper at 3:43, tying the game at 6-6. Later, Bickford scored a layup and completed a 3-point play at 1:11. The Tigers closed the quarter leading 11-9.
 
ETBU seized control in the second hitting a 12-point streak to extend their lead. Jones scored a layup off an assist from Bickford at 9:00, for a 13-9 lead, while Hannah Ayala added a three-pointer with 4 seconds left for a 15-point lead, 30-15. ETBU held Berea to just six points in the quarter.
 
The Tigers started the third quarter with a 7–0 run that included Jones' jumper at 9:44 and a fastbreak layup assisted by Keith at 8:45 to make it 34-15. Sara Cowan extended the lead with a 3-pointer at 7:10 (39-18), followed by a layup at 6:50, increasing the home team's advantage to 41-18. Despite Berea's attempts to close the gap with a late 3-pointer at 0:48, the Tigers' lead held firm, 46–31.
 
A big fourth quarter for the Tigers was highlighted by Jones scoring a jumper with an assist from Bickford just 24 seconds into the quarter. Despite Berea's attempts to close the gap, the Tigers maintained their momentum. Jones continued to be instrumental, adding another jumper at 8:18, assisted by Keith. ETBU effectively utilized their opportunities in the paint, scoring 10 points, as they went on for the 63-50 win.
 
ETBU will head to Arkansas on Tuesday to face the University of the Ozarks at 5:00 p.m.
