REDLANDS, Calif. – Facing a different pitcher in all nine innings, no. 9/10 East Texas Baptist University didn't find their offensive groove as the University of Redlands ended with a win over the Tigers, 8-1. ETBU is now 1-3 to start the year in California.
Carson Livesay and
Hunter Rumachik led the team with two hits each, and ETBU totaled just six, with one run scored.
Connor Massimini recorded the lone RBI with a groundout.
Matthew Irwin took the loss, going five innings as ETBU used four pitchers. He recorded five strikeouts but gave up seven hits for four earned runs.
Ethan Brister,
Tate Sloan, and
Braden Hodge all worked an inning and had one strikeout.
The Redlands used nine pitchers, with a new pitcher every inning. They scored two runs in the second, fifth, sixth, and eighth innings for their eight runs. ETBU's lone run came in the eighth inning.
ETBU heads to no. 18 University of La Verne for a three-game series with a game each day, Wednesday through Friday. ETBU is playing seven games in seven days on their California trip, with six games against nationally ranked teams.
