SEGUIN, Texas – Starting the 2025 season on the road in Central Texas, East Texas Baptist University had a strong acrobatics and tumbling meet against Texas Lutheran University. TLU won the dual meet, 212.70 to 165.40, as ETBU is now 0-1 on the year.
In the first heat, the Compulsory, ETBU finished with 21.40 points. The Pyramid heat was the best score with an 8.35. Carley Spears,
Emily Blalock,
Hannah George,
Hannah Cantrell,
Shosha Weigand, and
Chesni Speaker helped with the 8.35. Blalock,
Caylin Williams,
Meredith Griffin, Lizzy Holloway, and Carley Spears earned a 7.45 in the toss heat.
The Acro event gave ETBU 19.30 points with their best event in the 6 Element. Speaker, George, and Cantrell scored a 7.00. They then had a 6.05 in the 5 Element and a 6.25 in the 7 Element. ETBU then scored 21.35 points in the Pyramid event. In the Open, ETBU scored an 8.70 for their best score of the meet. They trailed TLU, 85.5 to 62.05 at halftime.
After halftime, ETBU recorded 22.80 points in the Toss event recording all 7.0+. In the 450 Salto, Blalock, Williams, Griffin, Lizzy Holloway, Spears, and
Eva Dicken had a 7.65. The Synchronized toss brought a 7.40 and the Open had a 7.75 from
Gracie Stegall, Maddi Lozano,
Kilee Davis, George, Weigand, and Williams.
In Tumbling, the 6 Element Pass was the best heat at 6.90 as ETBU scored 30.40 overall. Holloway had a 6.675 in the Aerial Pass and Lozano scored a 6.675 in the Open Pass. ETBU then finished with a 50.15 in the team event for 165.40.
ETBU will host a tri-meet on Wednesday, March 5, at Ornelas Gym with Hawaii Pacific and Texas Lutheran.
