LA VERNE, Calif. – In their final game from California, no. 9/10 East Texas Baptist University gave up 16 hits to the no. 18 University of La Verne as they fell to the Leopards, 13-6. ETBU is now 1-5, as five of their six games in California were against nationally ranked teams.
Connor Massamini,
Nathan Harmon, and
Dylan Burnaman had two hits each. Burnaman led the team with three RBIs, Harmon had two, and Massamini had one. Six pitchers were used as
Tyler Bogusz started the game, going three innings with two strikeouts and two earned runs.
Jackson Jones took the loss in 1.2 innings with six earned runs on five hits.
Hayden Robichaux,
Campbell Williams,
Ethan Brister, and
Tate Sloan pitched after Jones.
ULV struck first in the first inning for a 1-0 lead, but Harmon tied the game on a single in the second as Massimini scored. ULV responded with two runs in the third inning but ETBU tied it up in the fourth at three. Massimini doubled in
Ben Lea, and Harmon tied the game on a single to center field.
Over the next three innings, ULV scored 10 runs, with six in the fifth, for a 13-3 lead. ETBU fought back with three runs in the eighth but came now closer as they fell 13-6.
ETBU will host a three-game series with Belhaven University next weekend at Woods Field.
