MARSHALL, Texas – Recording their third straight shutout win, East Texas Baptist University moved to 1-1 in the American Southwest Conference with a 7-0 victory over Howard Payne University. ETBU is now 4-3.
 
Jayde Childress and Fernanda Ruiz Burkhart won the no. 2 doubles, 6-0, for the first win in doubles. Isabelle Duarte and Isabella Macquet took the no. 3 doubles, 6-4, for the point. Bailey Smith and Monique Ybarra then won the no. 1 doubles, 6-4, for the sweep and first point of the match.
 
In singles, ETBU won two matches 6-1, 6-0, as Childress took no. 3 and Ybarra win no. 2. Ruiz Burkhart then won 6-0, 6-1 at no. 4. Macquet had a 6-2, 6-1 win at no. 6. Duarte had a strong win at no. 5, 6-4, 6-3, and Smith won no. 1, 6-4. 6-3.
 
ETBU will face St. Thomas Texas on Saturday in Georgetown, Texas.
