GEORGETOWN, Texas – Sweeping SCAC member the University of St. Thomas Texas, East Texas Baptist University won their fourth match in a row with a 7-0 shutout over the Celts. ETBU is now 5-3.
 
Playing on a neutral court in Central Texas, ETBU took all three doubles matches for the first point. Isabelle Duarte and Isabella Macquet took the no. 3 doubles, 6-1. Jayde Childress and Fernanda Ruiz Burkart had a 6-3 win at no. 2 doubles and Bailey Smith and Monique Ybarra finished off doubles at no. 1, 6-3.
 
In singles, Duarte had the closest match at no. 5 winning in tiebreakers, 7-6, 7-6. Smith won at no. 1, 6-2, 7-5, and Childress held off UST at no. 3, 7-5, 6-0. Ybarra took the no. 2 match, 6-0, 6-2,  and Ruiz Burkart earned a point at no. 4, 6-2, 6-2. Macquet then won a point at no. 6, 6-4, 6-4.
 
ETBU will host Whitworth on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Marshall.
