MARSHALL, Texas – Playing their fourth match in a week, East Texas Baptist University came up short of a win against Whitworth University, 4-3. ETBU is now 5-4 as their four-match win streak is broken.
Whitworth breezed through doubles play in no.1 and no.2 winning, 6-2, and 6-1.
Fernanda Ruiz Burkart and
Isabella Macquet took no. 3, 6-3, but Whitworth won the point.
ETBU earned three points winning at no. 1, no. 4, and no. 6 singles.
Bailey Smith won the no.1 match, 6-2, 6-0 for a point.
Isabelle Duarte then took the no. 4 match in a tie breaker, 0-6, 7-5, 1-0. Macquet finished off ETBU's third point at no. 6, 6-3, 6-3.
ETBU will travel to Belton, Texas, on Saturday for an ASC match vs. Mary Hardin-Baylor.
