GEORGETOWN, Texas – Four singles matches went three sets as East Texas Baptist University pulled off a 7-0 win over Pacific University (Ore.) in Central Texas at Southwestern University. ETBU has now won four matches in a row and is 7-2.
Taking two of three matches in doubles, ETBU earned the first point. Falling no. 2 doubles to start,
Max Karseno and
Sam Black won no. 1 doubles, 7-5, to even the score.
Slade Austin and
BT White won the point for the Tigers with a 7-5 win at no. 3 doubles.
Baptiste Berthier made it 2-0 winning no. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-4, and Black put ETBU up, 3-0, after a 6-2, 7-5, win at no. 1 singles. The next four matches were all won in three sets as
BT White won the first one at no. 3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Jaco Snyman won the no. 2 match, 2-6, 6-1, 6-0, making it 5-0. Karseno then won at no. 4, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) and Austin finished off the match at no. 6, 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-6).
ETBU will host Whitworth on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Marshall, Texas.
