A&T | ETBU Collects Season High in Points vs. TLU

MARSHALL, Texas – Recording a season-high in points, East Texas Baptist University had five 8.5 scores or higher against Texas Lutheran University. TLU won the meet with 228.545 points, but ETBU scored 195.795 points, surpassing the 195.520 points they had recorded in their tri-meet three weeks prior.
 
Two 9.0 scores came into play for ETBU with a 9.45 in the Compulsory Event - Pyramid Heat and a 9.50 in Pyramid Event for the Open.
 
An 8.65 was scored in the Compulsory Toss Heat and also the Pyramid Event for the Inversion. In the Pyramid – Synchronized heat, ETBU had an 8.75 to round out the five scores above 8.50.
 
The Compulsory Event gave ETBU 23.30 points as 9.45 was scored in the Pyramid Heat. In the third heat, the toss, ETBU had an 8.65 and trailed TLU, 30.20 to 23.30 after the first event.
 
Acro started with an 8.00 in the 5-Element with a 7.50 in the 7-Element as ETBU finished with 19.60 points. ETBU's strongest event was the Pyramid, scoring 26.90 points. It started with an 8.65 in the Inversion, followed by an 8.75 in the Synchronized. They finished with a 9.50 in the Open, earning 26.90 points. ETBU trailed 85.05 to 69.80 at the half.
 
After halftime, ETBU scored 24.25 points in the Toss Event. In the 450 Salto, ETBU scored an 8.25, followed by a 7.80 in the Synchronized. The final heat was the open as they scored an 8.20 from Gracie Stegall, Caylin Williams, Chesni Speaker, Hannah George, Shosha Weigand, and Meredith Griffin.
 
The top score in the Tumbling Event was 7.725, achieved by Maddie Lozano in the 6-Element Pass. ETBU scored 35.875 in the event and then earned 65.87 points in the Team Event, finishing with a total of 195.795.
 
ETBU's final meet of the year will be on Monday at 6:00 p.m. against Missouri State.
