A&T | ETBU Improves Score by 30 Points in Second Meet of the Year

MARSHALL, Texas – Improving their score by 30 points from the year's first meet, East Texas Baptist University faced Texas Lutheran University and Hawai'i Pacific University in an acrobatics and tumbling tri-meet. TLU won the meet with a score of 244.335, just ahead of HPU's 241.415. ETBU finished with 195.52, besting their 165.40 in their first meet.
 
ETBU recorded four 9.0+ scores and 8.0+ scores. Their top was a 9.40 in the Pyramid Open and a 9.30 in the Compulsory Pyramid. ETBU also defeated HPU in the Pyramid event with 26.95 points to 22.35 points.
 
The meet started with the Compulsory Event as ETBU earned two 9.0+ scores. Carley Spears, Emily Blalock, Hannah George, Hannah Cantrell, Shosha Weigand, and Chesni Speaker all helped for the 9.30. Blalock, Caylin Williams, Kilee Davis, Lizzy Holloway, and Spears recorded a 9.15 in the Toss heat. ETBU earned 25.25 points in the event.
 
In the Acro Event, ETBU finished with 21.45 points, recording 7.60 scores in the 5-Element and 6-Element heats. The first half ended with 26.85 points in the Pyramid and two more 9.0+ scores. A 9.05 was scored in the Synchronized Pyramid, followed by a 9.40 in the Open Pyramid. ETBU had 73.55 points at the half and was just over 10 points behind HPU's 83.75 as TLU led with 9-.20.
 
Three 8.0+ scores came in the Toss Event as the 450 Salto was an 8.45 by Blalock, Williams, Davis, Holloway, Spears, and Eva Dicken. The Synchronized heat had an 8.30 from Blalock, Williams, Davis, Holloway, and Spears. The event ended with an 8.35 in the Open from Gracie Stegall, Cantrell, Speaker, George, Weigand, and Meredith Griffin. ETBU finished with 25.10 points and was 0.6 points behind TLU as HPU won the event with 27.65 points.
 
A 7.525 was the best score in the Tumbling Event at the 6 Element Pass by Maddie Lozano. ETBU then scored 61.57 in the team event for 195.52 points.

ETBU will head to Alabama next week for two meets at the University of Montevallo and Talladega College.
